It was a great pleasure to be part of the very successfully conducted 4th MLAG Annual Conference 2018 at Delhi yesterday. With Jam packed hall and eager interactive , interested and aware audience, the speakers could not afford to take them for granted. The choice of topics and speakers was very meticulously chosen and was very well appreciated. Weather Gods also smiled on us and we had a bright sunny day in Delhi.

Dr Rakesh Khazanchi, Mr Siddharth Luthra, Mr Gautam, Dr Chitra Sethya, Dr Sandeep Dhavan, other members of MLAG like Dr Paramjit Mann, Dr Ranjit Khanna and so many others who quietly worked in the background and supported Dr Ashwini Sethya in organizing this event need to be applauded. A very professional approach was let down only by our underestimation of the delegate strength which left us scrambling to arrange for more chairs in the hall with people still left standing.

With delegates who came from Tamil Nadu, Lucknow, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Khanna, Jaipur and so many other places , only to attend and listen to the speakers, I felt humbled. Truly we have now thrown off the straight jacket of being a regional organization and MLAG is now a Pan India Phenomenon.

Honorable Justice Manmohan our Chief Guest gave the MLAG-Dr T Sethu laxmi award to Dr M C Gupta for his dedicated work in educating doctors on legal issues as well as encouraging them to fight for their rights legally, amidst loud applause.

Talks by , Dr Purvish Parikh, Dr Geetender Sharma, Dr Rakesh Khazanchi , Dr Charu Mittal, Dr Santosh Kakade were crisp and filled with take home messages.Debates between Dr Navin Dang & Dr Satish Bhat and also between Dr M C Patel and Dr Satish Tiwari were very well received while Hitesh won his debate hands down. Dr S K Tyagi was at his inimitable best and should be made a keynote speaker for any medical conference in any specialty. I learnt a lot from Dr Ashwini on how to conduct a panel discussion. In his session on Media friend or foe, he kept making provocative statements to the press representatives on dias in a manner that they were still treated as our guests and not be offended . Mr Pankaj Singh ADGP Rajasthan Police sat through the entire day and answered many crucial questions.

Issues of strike by Doctors and their right to protest was eleborated in the MLAG- Dr Luxmi Garg Oration by Senior Advocate Sh Siddharth Luthra in a very lucid manner. The Moot court was very interesting and opened our eyes to what happens in court. I need to acknowledge and thank from the bottom of the heart the speakers who understood our finances and did not burden us with costs and spent on their own to join us and share their expertise.

It is a different matter for doctors in audience to occassionally be moved emotionally by the discussion and offer cash contribution to MLAG on the spot. But it is very special when delegates have brought signed cheques to personally hand over contributions to MLAG during conference. I am grateful to all those who have so thoughtfully and knowingly made such a decision. Let me say that it encourages me to look back and find there are many who support what we are doing.

I thank you all for having made this event of 4th MLAG Annual Conference a roaring success and encouraging us to continue on our path. I know I will have omitted to mention role of many other key persons but then I never claimed to be perfect. It is good to be considered bad so that expectations from me are always bare minimum. This I learnt in 1st year of marriage and have implemented it in all walks of life. Thank you Dr Ashwani Sethya and Dr Chitra Sethya once again from the bottom of my heart.
