I am told that Mr Kejriwal is not to be faulted
After my criticism of the 50% discount for death within 6 hour policy I have been told that it was at team of 6-8 doctors including Presidents of various Medical Associations who have framed this policy announced by the Government.
This is worse. Our associations and organizations are unfortunately lead by persons who are working in institutions both Government and Private. From their ivory towers they sometimes tend to forget what it is to work on ground. The Small and Medium Heath Care
Establishments (SMHCE) tackle the bulk of the patient load in the country and they are the ones who are ignored totally in the policy making.
Even in representation within MCI the distribution favors the Institutions and Universities but no proportional representation is sought or give to SMHCEs. With no representation the issues faced by them and consequently by 70 % of all inpatient healthcare providers are totally ignored.
What should be learnt from this fiasco and what needs to be done is that SMHCE representation in all organizations and bodies should be actively sought and pursued. Also we should learn from Bar Associations who reserve about 50 % of the representation for those with less than 10 years of experience after joining the Bar.
