I hang my head in shame
Dr Deepak Amrapurkar was a senior Gastroenterologist who died a most unfortunate death at the hands of negligent Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai Officials. We passed innumerable messages condoling his death and criticizing civic authorities of mumbai on the social media.
Meanwhile a PIL was filed in Bombay High Court in this regard seeking registration of FIR under Section 304 A and punitive damages from MCGM NOT by Indian Society of Gastroenterology (ISG), or by Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy of India (SGEI) or Indian National Association for Study of Liver (INASL) or even by Indian Medical Association (IMA) and specially not by Medicos Legal Action Group (MLAG) or AMC Mumbai but by FEDERATION
OF RETAIL TRADERS WELFARE ASSOCIATION
MUMBAI.
Was it not "Our" duty to seek relief for death of a senior member . If a traders body is to seek relief for our grievance then maybe the Government & Courts in their collective wisdom were right in clubbing doctors with traders through CPA and though various judgments and other Acts and Laws like CEA, Shops & Commercial Establishments Act etc.
